Football player sentenced for Michigan football tunnel fight

One player for the Michigan State football team has been formally sentenced for his part in the fight inside the Michigan Stadium tunnel this past season.

Spartans defensive back Khary Crump has been given one year of probation and will also have to perform 80 hours of community service, according to reports.

"If Mr. Crump successfully completes probation, his record will be clear," said Victoria Burton-Harris, the chief assistant prosecuting attorney, told ESPN.

"Second, under the statute, the case and its associated records are now sealed from public view. Consistent with the act and its confidentiality requirements, we will have no further substantive comment."

That ruling comes after Crump swung his football helmet at Michigan cornerback Gemon Green during that skirmish in the tunnel back in October.

Krump was originally charged with felonious assault with a deadly weapon but that charge was dropped down to two misdemeanor charges, which he pleaded guilty to.

Crump will miss at least the next eight games for Michigan State after head coach Mel Tucker suspended the player for his part in the fight.

"I'm not proud of that," Crump said of the altercation. "I'm looking forward to moving forward."

Six other Michigan State football players also face charges over the incident, which took place after the team's 29-7 loss to rival Michigan.
