The moves don’t stop as the Indianapolis Colts have now signed offensive lineman Arlington Hambright to their practice squad and released offensive tackle Dan Skipper as the regular season closes in.

Both Hambright and Skipper showed their skills during the preseason by playing all three contests. Hambright would play left tackle (38 snaps), left guard (36 snaps), and right guard (33 snaps).
Through those snaps, he would show a bit more promise at left tackle than at the guard positions. But Indy believes the versatile veteran can add depth and could get better through their practice squad after he was waived less than a week ago.
As for tackle Skipper, it’s not the most surprising he’s been released from the team.
After being signed in early August by the Colts to provide six years of experience at offensive tackle, Skipper showed little promise in his 118 preseason snaps at right tackle. Through all three preseason games, Skipper would post a mediocre 45.0 overall blocking grade and allow 4 quarterback pressures and 3 hurries, per Pro Football Focus.
Skipper was to be a depth piece behind Braden Smith and reserve rookie swing tackle Blake Freeland, but as of now, it’s not meant to be.
As the Colts get closer to their 2023 home opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, look for more moves to potentially happen with the offensive line to shore up the depth. This area of protection was concerning for Indianapolis through the preseason, but they appear to be making the transactions necessary to do what they can to build it up for a young offense that’s ready to take the field.
