Miles Sanders 'Pissed Off' About 2023 Season
USA TODAY Sports

Miles Sanders signed the richest deal of any free agent running back last offseason, agreeing to a four-year, $25.4 million deal with the Carolina Panthers.

He was coming off the best year of his career rushing for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns on 259 carries, playing a big part in the Philadelphia Eagles' run to the Super Bowl.

Just months removed from trading Christian McCaffrey, signing Sanders to that type of deal irked some Panther fans but they knew they were getting a quality back coming off a career year.

Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned for Sanders or the Panthers. Sanders had without question the worst year of his career rushing for 432 yards and one touchdown on 129 carries while the Panthers had arguably the worst season in franchise history, 2-15.

On Wednesday, Sanders voiced his frustration with the 2023 season in a short post on Instagram.

By mid-October, Sanders lost his role as the starting running back to Chuba Hubbard who went on to rush for 902 yards on the season. In 10 of his 16 games played, Sanders carries the rock nine times or less. In five of those weeks, he had three carries of fewer - three of which were the final three games of the season.

There is a potential out in Sanders' contract following the 2024 season, so if the Panthers are unhappy with his production next fall they can part ways and eat roughly $2.9 million in dead cap.
