Ohio State Buckeyes Make Offer To Prized Quarterback Recruit
Lori Schmidt / Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK

Chip Kelly isn’t just overseeing the Ohio State Buckeyes’ offensive strategy; he’s also spearheading recruitment efforts.

In his inaugural season as the Buckeyes’ offensive coordinator, Kelly has extended offers to several quarterbacks in the class of 2026, the latest being four-star prospect Brandon Faizon.

“I kind of knew he was going to offer. He had been telling me he just wanted to see me throw. Then I talked to him on the phone and he offered me. I was very excited,” Faizon shared with Bucknuts.

Currently ranked as the fourth-best quarterback in the 2026 cycle according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings, Faizon joins the ranks of eight sophomore signal callers who have received offers from Kelly.

Already holding over 20 scholarship offers, Faizon is reportedly planning to visit Ohio State later this summer. The Buckeyes have also secured a commitment from five-star quarterback Tavien St. Clair from Bellefontaine, Ohio, in the 2025 class.

Kelly’s decision to leave UCLA after six seasons as head coach to join Ohio State as offensive coordinator surprised many. However, he clarified his motivations for the move in an interview with Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt in April.

“I love coaching football… If I was gonna go somewhere it would be a school where the program shares the same values and visions that I have. When I got the opportunity to coach here, it was a dream,” Kelly said.

Kelly’s debut with the Ohio State Buckeyes will be against Akron on August 31.
