Minnesota Wild sign Mason Shaw to one-year contract to finish 2023-24
Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

The Minneosta Wild have announced that Mason Shaw has signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 to close out the season.

The Wild subsequently reassigned forward Adam Beckman to Iowa of the AHL.

Shaw suffered an ACL tear in April during a game against the Vegas Golden Knights, limiting him to just nine games played with Iowa this season. He has looked good with four goals and seven points, proving to Wild GM Bill Guerin that Shaw is ready for another chance with the big club.

Drafted 97th overall by the Wild in 2017, Shaw has had four ACL tears in his career. The Lloydminster, Alberta native was an NHL rookie last year, registering seven goals, 17 points and 79 penalty minutes in 59 games.

In 197 AHL games, Shaw – who briefly served as Iowa’s captain last year – has 43 goals, 121 points and 213 penalty minutes over seven seasons. Before turning pro, Shaw spent three years with the Medicine Hat Tigers before an injury knocked him out of his final campaign. Shaw had 96 points in 2016-17, the best total of his career.

The Wild are fifth in the wild-card race, three points behind St. Louis and Los Angeles in the two spots. The Wild are in the midst of a four-game winning streak and are 7-3-0 over the past 10 games.
